Rantanplan management had, after Thibault Zimmer's amazing season (3 wins in Top division), the secret hope to see him finish the season as N°1 in the ranking of the french riders. He was N°2 with a 30 pts deficit, and had a perfect race coming with Bordeaux-Toulouse today.
Alas, the events of the race have destroyed our common ambitions. Zimmer and his main lieutenant (and WB) Dupuy were both having an off day, and got both involved in the same crash (that is logical when the leader follows his windbreaker) !
Eventually Zimmer finished 11th, and we must feel happy that none of our riders had to stay at the infirmary. This national honour will stay a dream for him because he won't be the leader on his 2 last races of the season.
Kentucky Moonshine should be captained by our other Thibaud, Monaco champ' Dupuy. Thibaud sprints a bit, while Thibault doesn't at all. Or maybe we'll have a newcomer to lead (?)(mystery...).
Then Carlton Cambridge will lead the team, for his return after some reshapping races, at the first World Championship in the Rantanplan team history. :D
He's warned to no figure by the favourites, though !
